Crystal N. Acevedo-Jiménez advises on government contracts, corporate transactions, commercial agreements, and regulatory compliance, combining a litigation background with transactional and corporate counsel experience across Puerto Rico's public and private sectors. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Ponce Campus with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Psychology, and Cum Laude from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University College of Law in Orlando, Florida with a Juris Doctor degree in 2017, where she received the highest grade in Wills and Estate Planning. She is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and is a licensed notary of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. At Maceira Zayas, Crystal serves as Of Counsel with a focus on government contracts review and compliance, corporate governance, contract drafting and negotiation, and policy and procedure development. Her work at the firm includes review and evaluation of government contracts, drafting of regulations and legal memoranda, and advising on corporate governance and transactional matters. Crystal contributed to the development of procurement manuals for LUMA Energy and Genera PR governing operator transactions under their respective operation and maintenance agreements and applicable federal funding rules, and was part of the team that produced the HMS Ferries Annual Compliance Reports submitted to the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority. She currently serves as legal advisor to Genera PR on compliance matters arising under Genera's P3 agreement with the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) and the Puerto Rico Public-Private Partnerships Authority. Before joining Maceira Zayas, Crystal was an Associate Attorney in the Litigation Department at Reichard & Escalera, LLC — a firm ranked by Chambers & Partners in both its Global and Latin America guides — where she handled complex commercial litigation before the courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. Her practice included defense representation in commercial litigation, labor and employment matters, Law 75 dealer protection claims, copyright disputes, and tort actions. She drafted briefs and motions, negotiated and drafted settlement agreements, and managed document review in high-volume commercial litigation using ESI software. Prior to that, Crystal served as creditor's advisor at Rivera, Tulla & Ferrer on matters arising under the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management, and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA, 48 U.S.C. § 2101 et seq.) in connection with Puerto Rico's government debt restructuring proceedings. She represented Chapter 7 trustees and creditors in complex bankruptcy litigation, including insolvency matters before the federal courts. Her corporate transactional experience includes advising on entity formation, commercial agreements, private bond issuances, real estate acquisitions and leases, stock purchase and sale agreements, due diligence, and corporate governance matters — developed through her tenure as Corporate Associate Attorney at Picó Advisors, LLC.
